EPISODE 4
AIR QUALITY

In this episode, we will be discussing about COVID-19’s impact on Thai air quality. Prior to the recent outbreak, there was an ongoing controversy over the rise of PM 2.5 in Bangkok. Bangkok has sporadically recorded as the world’s worst air quality according to Air Visual, an app for monitoring air pollution. Air quality is wholly dependent on numerous factors: Emissions of chemicals, particles, microbes, humidity and lots more. Now that COVID-19 has taken over the country by encouraging domestic “Stay Home Lockdown” or quarantine, it has significantly influenced Thailand’s air quality. What are the correlations between air quality and the recent outbreak? Has quarantine produced unanticipated health benefits for the society?
